Dr. Anne Spoerry, affectionately known as “Mama Daktari” devoted her life to providing basic medical care to under-served populations in some of the most remote regions of Kenya.  In 1964, she joined the Flying Doctors Service of Kenya, now known as the African Medical and Research and Education Foundation (AMREF), and used her personal wealth and navigational skills to run mobile clinics by land, by air and by sea. Upon her death in 1999, many of her mobile clinics ceased to exist.  Her niece, together with support of AMREF, have resurrected her work in the islands of Lamu, Kenya via the Sailing Doctors organization as depicted in this touching documentary about the work they perform there.
